For users who are new to the industry or who have just purchased, without physical evidence, there are many problems that they do not understand just by looking at pictures, for example, the difference between a spill pallet and a spill deck.
Spill pallet and spill deck are wonderful products among plastic pallet products (of course, pallets and platforms are also made of steel), which are specially designed to prevent and control oil drums and chemical drums and other oil and chemical products widely used in modern factories, warehousing, logistics, and transportation industries. Designed and developed for leaking chemical containers.
Spill pallet is also called spill control pallet, spill containment pallet, drum spill pallet, chemical spill pallet, oil spill pallet. There are too many names, as the name suggests, but the essence is the same, that is, to contain the leakage.
The height of the spill deck is lower than that of the general spill pallet, generally only 15 cm, so it is called a deck. Due to the relatively low height, the spill deck can become part of the factory floor, saving space and improving safety and efficiency, and it is easier to move oil drums and chemical drums on and off. The spill pallet comes in two sizes, one with a height of 43 cm and one with a height of 30 cm. The height of the 2 drum spill pallet is generally 43 cm, and there are 2 heights of the 4 drum spill pallet, one is 43 cm, and the other is 30 cm. A spill pallet with a height of 30 cm is generally called a 4 drum shallow spill pallet.
According to the EPA 40CFR264.175 of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as leak prevention and secondary containment equipment, the leakage volume of a spill pallet and a spill deck must be greater than 10% of the sum of the volume of a single storage container and all storage containers , The larger of the two works. For example, there are four 55-gallon containers on the 4 drum spill pallet, and the four 55-gallon containers add up to 220 gallons, and 10% of 220 gallons is 22 gallons. Compared with a single drum of 55 gallons, 55 gallons are larger, so it complies with the US EPA If specified, the spill pallet and spill deck must have a sump volume greater than 55 gallons. Some people say that my leak is just a little bit, not so big, and I don’t need such a large leak volume (if the height of the tray can be as low as possible, then the cost will be low). But we need to prevent problems before they happen. In extreme cases, everything may leak out, but this is unlikely, which will greatly increase the product cost (the tray has a large leakage volume, and the size of the tray needs to be large). A 10% probability is more appropriate. It is entirely possible for a single container to leak completely. It is very reasonable to use whichever is bigger, which is effective in preventing possible leakage and will not increase the manufacturing cost of the product a lot.
A spill pallet is essentially a plastic tray that can contain spills and has its own spill chute. Other functions are the same as pallets, with forklift slots (4-barrel square leak trays can be operated by forklifts in 4 directions), which can store, transport, and turn around these oil barrels and chemical barrels. All leakage will flow into the spill tank. Will not drain to the ground. Of course, the spill tray can also be used to turn over general goods, but this is an overkill.
According to the loading form of several 55-gallon barrels and IBC container barrels on the spill pallet, it is usually divided into 2 drum spill pallet, 4 drum spill pallet, and IBC spill pallet. Generally, 4 drum spill pallets are square, but sometimes there are 4 drum linear spill pallets for better use of space in order to place them on the side of the wall. The higher the height of the spill tray, the larger the effective volume of the spill tank in general, and the greater the amount of leaked liquid stored.
The IBC spill pallet is used to store and transport the usual IBC barrels, that is, tons of barrels. The IBCspill pallet has a very large spill capacity. The system itself comes with a receptacle that holds a 5 gallon pail for quick and easy dispensing. Can be operated with a forklift. Can stack 2 IBC totes.
Spill pallets have their own supporting slopes, which can be used universally, making it easy, fast and simple to move chemical storage barrels up and down.
High-strength, removable and detachable seepage isolation plate is easy to disassemble and clean, and can also be replaced.
The drain hole, also called the drain hole, can discharge the liquid in the sump. Most of the liquid can be recycled.
According to the number of loaded 55-gallon oil barrels, there are generally 2 drum spill decks, 4 drum spill decks, 6 drum spill decks, 8 drum spill decks, etc.
In general, the spill deck is used to store oil barrels, chemical barrels, etc., not to move these containers. Placed in the workshop, it acts as a platform on which people can perform various operations (extracting oil products, filling, subpackaging, etc.). In general, the spill deck is short and there is no forklift slot underneath. However, with the advancement of technology and engineering, there is also a transparent forklift slot under the 15cm forklift slot. When it is empty, it can be operated by a forklift, stacking, packing, and moving. The spill deck with forklift slots is very convenient. However, when fully loaded with oil drums and chemical drums, due to insufficient strength (the height of the forklift slot is generally 8-9 cm), generally it cannot be operated with a forklift, and there may be insufficient strength.
Like the spill pallet, the spill deck has the same grille, with matching ramps and weep holes. Spill deck accessories also have connecting buckles, which can lock the independent spill deck and prevent relative movement, forming a truly stable and reliable workstation.
