2 When using high-temperature thermal treatment technology to dispose of damaging waste, polyvinyl chloride materials should not be used for sharps boxes.

3 The overall color of the sharps box is light yellow, and the color should meet the requirements of Y06 in GB/T 3181. A warning sign should be printed on the side of the sharps box, with the warning message "Warning! Damaging waste".

4 A fully filled sharps box falls freely from a height of 1.2m to a concrete floor for 3 consecutive times without breaking or being punctured.

5 The specifications and dimensions of the sharps box are determined according to user requirements.

In the Appendix 2 "List of Medical Waste Exemption Management" of the "Medical Waste Classification Catalog (2021 Edition)", some medical wastes with no risk or low risk are specified, which can be exempted from management in accordance with the provisions of the exemption content when the corresponding conditions are met. For example, ampoules, guide wires, etc. can be collected without using sharps boxes when the exemption conditions are met, which can significantly reduce the unnecessary use of sharps boxes.
