Be Prepared

All hazardous areas must have emergency plans and awareness-raising by specific people in charge.

This smart and simple approach minimizes possible harm to workers, ensures property safety, and reduces the potential for damage to the surrounding environment caused by leaking liquids.

Plan Well

Eight necessary steps for proper preparation

1) List all liquids in the storage space in detail (regardless of the degree of hazard).

2) Include detailed statistics for each liquid.

3) Clearly distinguish "hazardous" or "prone to spill" areas and post eye-catching signs.

4) The person in charge of each area must count the names and quantities of liquids that may spill in their area of responsibility.

5) The person in charge must also regularly update the material safety data sheet (MSDS) of the liquids in their area of responsibility.

6) According to the type of liquid in different areas, the correct liquid accessories must be selected and the accessories must be cleaned regularly.

7) A quick emergency plan must be developed for unconventional situations such as weather, and a specific implementation plan must be developed to store the liquid in other areas.

8) The dedicated person in charge is also responsible for checking all utensils for containing liquids and cleaning and repairing them regularly to ensure they are in good condition.

Comprehensive training

Training targets: Regional safety responsible personnel and other stakeholders involved in the collaboration.

Trainers should regularly conduct "best use" awareness and operation training for stakeholders, so that the trainees can increase their knowledge of liquid leakage control and cleaning methods,

minimize potential risks, and appropriately adjust to the best consolidation time for re-training or in-depth training to enhance the emergency confidence and ability of the handlers.

Training courses: 4 steps of interaction

1) Initial stage: teaching training, establish a sense of responsibility between the training group and individuals.

2) Mid-term: stage simulation training, actual combat practice for liquid leakage, improve leakage prevention skills and strengthen classroom training.

3) Late stage: review each simulated liquid leakage process in a cyclical scenario, and improve the setting of the corresponding potential danger area.

4) Final stage: conduct staged training for stakeholders and surrounding people as much as possible, and collect practical feedback from stakeholders on the leaked liquid.

Systematic treatment

1) Evaluate the situation of emergency evacuation of surrounding people: Evaluate the liquid leakage situation and identify the spilled objects as much as possible. Principle: Safety first!

2) Select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): Select appropriate protective clothing and equipment to deal with liquid leakage. If the leak has not been identified, it should be temporarily identified as the most dangerous liquid.

3) Block, transfer, and collect leaks: Use absorbent socks and absorbent pillows to stop the flow of liquid before the liquid leak spreads.

4) Stop the leak: If possible, stop the source of the leak. Simple actions such as closing valves or straightening the round bucket.

5) Evaluate the feedback of the accident: Once the leak is under control, re-evaluate the situation and formulate a cleanup plan again.

6) Implement the cleanup plan: Use absorbent pads and absorbent pillows to collect leaks and safely dispose of contaminated items.

7) Purification: Clean the leak site and clean and disinfect the relevant personnel and equipment that have been exposed to the leak.

8) Documentation: Record the incident and the process of handling, and organize the leak handling report and other related documentation.

Absorbent product function classification

Universal absorbent cotton is specially used for non-hazardous liquid leaks such as oil, water, coolant and solvent. Such as universal absorbent sock, universal absorbent pad and universal absorbent pillow are available. Different absorbent cotton products are attached with different labels for your quicker confirmation.

Chemical absorbent cotton series is suitable for acid, corrosive and other chemical liquids. Chemical absorbent cotton is suitable for leaks such as acid, corrosive and other hazardous liquids, and is also suitable for leaks of unknown liquids.

Oil absorbent cotton is professionally suitable for oil absorption and does not absorb water. Oil absorbent cotton is used to professionally absorb oily liquids on the surface, and can also be used for oily liquids on the surface during rain. Product categories include oil absorbent sock, oil absorbent pad and oil absorbent pillow. The oil absorbent series is marked in white.

Absorbent product form classification

Absorbent pad:

Suitable for leaks in a small area. When using, the absorbent cotton sheet can be directly placed on the liquid surface. The leaked liquid will be absorbed quickly, which is safe and convenient.

absorbent roll:

Suitable for indoor floor leakage treatment. When a leak occurs, the operator can directly lay it on the floor for absorption. In addition, since the cotton rolls are all tear-off self-service packs,

they can also be used instead of cotton sheets for operation when necessary.

absorbent sock:

Suitable for large-area or multi-volume leaks. You can first use absorbent sock to circle the leak range and gradually narrow the leak range. According to the actual leak area, choose an absorbent sock of appropriate length. When circumscribing, make sure that the contact points at both ends of the cotton strip overlap to form a strong barrier for the leaked material.

absorbent pillow:

Used alone or with absorbent cotton strips. When using, the operator can directly place the PIG absorbent cotton pillow on a larger area of leaked liquid (or after the absorbent cotton strip has been circled) to directly and quickly absorb the leaked liquid.

Special instructions

1. Assess the critical situation and evacuate the surrounding people. Assess the liquid leakage situation and identify the spilled liquid as much as possible. Principle: Safety first!

2. Choose appropriate protective clothing and equipment to deal with liquid leakage. If the leak has not been identified, set it to the highest hazard level.

3. If possible, immediately stop the source of the leak. Simple actions such as closing valves or straightening the drum.

4. Once the leak is effectively controlled, reassess the situation and develop a cleanup plan again.

5. Safely dispose of the used leak-proof absorbent cotton.
